Tales of rescued timber – a celebration of salvage

What follows is a virtual sanctuary where we celebrate the echoes of the past through the sharing of a few of our most notable salvage adventures. A salvage is very much a treasure hunt, revealing the concealed beauty within weathered beams, time-worn planks, and reclaimed wonders. Where some people might see a heap of junk, we see beautiful furniture and other creative possibilities.

The Kunene

The Kunene is where it all started. This wreck was dumped on a grain farm in Swellendam where we recovered it.

The Largo

The Largo was one of the first wrecks that arrived at our Knysna salvage yard in February 2011.

The Bogenfels

The Bogenfels, an ex-working turned pleasure-cruiser had sunk in PE harbour. Subsequently reclaimed by us and transformed into beautiful furniture.

The Oceana Mercury

What remained of the Oceana Mercury when we discovered it.

The Oceana Aquarius

A very old boat whose hull was made out of some stunning Oregon Pine. Discovered in Saldanha.

The Karasberg

The wreckage of the Karasberg was rescued from this landfill. Later given a new life, transformed into beautiful and unique furniture.

The Deus Te Ajude

We discovered this beauty no-longer sea-worthy but we certainly found it to be very furniture-worthy!

Woodbridge island bridge

Salvaged timber from the historic Woodbridge island bridge.

Please peruse the rest of the website to see more of what we do. And if you are interested in having a piece of furniture or other item created from our special salvaged timber, don’t hesitate to contact us.

We are also avid buyers and sellers of salvaged wood and other interesting reclaimed artifacts. In certain cases, we do the salvaging ourselves, as show-cased above.
